There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer;
no disease that enough love will not heal;
no door that enough love will not open;
no gulf that enough love will not bridge;
no wall that enough love will not throw down;
no sin that enough love will not redeem…
It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble,
How hopeless the outlook,
How muddled the tangle,
How great the mistake,
A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all…

Today Carrie and Amanda King were the recipients of our holiday cheer. Carrie’s daughter Julia passed away on January 24, 2013. This time last year Carrie spent her time in the hospital while her youngest daughter was fighting against a brain tumor. Her dear friend, Krysta read my blog and decided that Carrie was the exact type of person who could use our Holiday Cheer. I could not agree more. The poem above was read by Carrie at Julia’s Memorial Service and I could not think of a better way to start this blog post and to share her story. Julia’s grandmother kept a blog of their story and I encourage you to read it if you want to find out more about Carrie and her journey (http://juliaking1.blogspot.com/?m=1).
For our gift to Carrie, we also included a gift for Amanda. My mother in law made these sweet pillow cases for Amanda. One with pink cupcakes, one with the Alphabet and cute little critters, and lastly one with puppy dogs and hearts.
And we also got her a necklace.
For Carrie I got her one of my favorite things just because I wasn’t sure what to purchase.
It is a collection of charms, an angel wing and an initial charm for each of her girls initials. Again, this type of gift is like throwing a little pebble into an abyss of grief. I cannot even begin to imagine what this family experiences on a day-to-day basis, but I am glad that Carrie was nominated and I hope that she continues to receive an outpouring of love and support because despite what people say I do not believe that it gets any easier as the time passes; each day is a new set of emotions and struggles and my heart, prayers, and love go out to the King Family.
Krysta decided to not give them our sign because she felt that it would remind them of the past and they are finally moving into the future. I whole-hardheartedly agree. I asked Krysta to keep our sign because I believe delivering this gift was a hard thing and I wanted her to have our sign.
Love wins-
M
